Diary of an intern: Week 5

May 30th, 2016

As I mentioned in my previous posts, IceMobile participates in a variety of events and this Sunday our lovely and sportive colleagues participated in BrandLoyalty’s “vestingloop” event. The Vestingloop is a friendly and recreational running event where individual participants, families, children and colleagues can challenge themselves.

It is now a fact that people who are working for IceMobile (if you are reading this and you are working for Ice - yeay-) enjoy being active. We organize kick box and yoga classes during the weekdays and we have a personal body plan for the ones whom are interested. Anyway, this sunday, even though it was “a bit” rainy, it didn’t stop 7,900 people from running 15K ! (whoever is reading this, get up and start jogging) Fifteen people wearing IceMobile t-shirts challenged themselves to break their own record. Especially, three IcePeeps who did the run together with our ABN-AMRO colleagues. They worked on the same project and it needed a celebration! “It was fun to challenge ourselves and run as a team at the same time” they said.

The Vestingloop took place in the beautiful city of s-Hertogenbosch and the weather did not bothered anyone. Which is not surprising I guess, Dutch people are already used to it. Also it might be good to mention or you already know that I am a foreigner living in Amsterdam so I am trying (emphasis is on trying here) to get used to the amazing weather. But the good thing about the rain was that it forced the crowd to talk to each other since people had to squeeze under the tents all together at once (don’t forget that the number was almost 7,900)

After all of the networking, eating and having fun it was time for the award ceremony and there the Dutch speed skating team prepared a small show and people were really excited about it. I think it is good to mention that Dutch people have this weird obsession (#sorrynotsorry) about speed skating and to be honest I have never heard about this sport branch in my life -I know my fault-. One of our colleagues who will be referred to as the fabulous IceMobile runner quotes “We were singing, talking and enjoying the show at the same time, it was fabulous”. Everyone enjoyed the show and took pictures with the speed skating team, so it was a good way of ending an exhausting yet fulfilling day.
